Molly Penn

Molly PennMolly Penn has over 25 years experience in the nonprofit sector.  She has been consulting since 2000 in the areas of strategic planning, organizational development, executive coaching, board development and fund raising.  As an executive coach, Ms. Penn has worked with numerous Executive Directors and staff of nonprofit organizations on areas such as: creating effective dual-management structure; general management coaching; staff management; building communication capacity; managing stressful work situations; and designing an effective development function within the organization. Ms. Penn has done strategic planning with a variety of organizations in the fields of: the arts; faith groups; environment; human service; and community development. As a fund raiser, Ms. Penn has worked with a variety of organizations and written proposals which were ultimately funded by: the National Endowment for the Arts; the National Endowment for the Humanities; the Center for Arts Education and many private foundations. She has helped conduct feasibility studies for large fund raising campaigns, run capital campaigns and coached boards on solicitation techniques. In addition, she has helped organizations create annual development plans. Ms. Penn is one of the founding partners of the Nonprofit Collaborative, a group of consultants working together to improve the capacity of nonprofit organizations. Ms. Penn has also contributed an article on board management to Chamber Music America’s CMA Matters newsletter and taught Grantwriting at SUNY Purchase. Before becoming a consultant, Ms. Penn worked at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, The Actors Studio, and The New Jersey Shakespeare Festival.  She is a registered fund raising consultant with the NYS Charities Bureau and a member of the Organization Development Network. She is trained as a professional coach, has an M.B.A. in Management from Fordham University, an M.F.A. in Arts Management from Columbia University and a B.A. in Dance from Bard College.

To provide our clients access to a wide range of consulting skills, we draw on a network of colleagues with diverse areas of expertise, ranging from grant writing and fund development to program evaluation to financial management to marketing. We have a regular group of colleagues whom we draw upon for discreet client engagements as needed.
